Florida WR says Rutgers ready to offer

Rutgers is in need of receiving help this season, so this four-star recruit wouldn't offer immediate help. However, he said a Rutgers offer is on the way. Find out what he had to say about the Scarlet Knights, and which schools he is hearing from the most.

Four-star recruit Michaelee Harris of Miami Northwestern High said he was told by the Rutgers coaching staff he would be receiving an offer from the Scarlet Knights, bringing his overall total to eight.

Harris added he has not settled on a list of schools he will visit, and does not have any official visits scheduled nor does he have any favorites.

"Recently, (receivers) coach (Brian) Jenkins from Rutgers told me they have offered me and I should be receiving that letter soon,'' Harris said.

The 6-foot, 180-pound Harris is the No. 30 receiver in the nation, according to Scout.com. Given the way the Scarlet Knights are still searching for a consistent No. 3 and No. 4 receiver this season, playing time could come in a hurry.

However, Harris is not in any rush to make a decision.

"I'm having a lot of fun with it,'' Harris said. "I'm trying to take it step by step, not rushing anything.''

And more offers could be on their way. Harris said he is hearing the most from Rutgers, Georgia, Florida, Mississippi, Central Florida and Tennessee, and the conversations revolve around the same theme.

"I have a couple asking me about visits,'' Harris said. "Most of the time they're checking in to see how my season is going, and getting to know me. They want to know when I can come to a home game, or take an official visit.''

Northwestern is 3-0, and Harris has three touchdown catches and returned a punt for a score. He said he notices a big difference in his play because of offseason training.

"It was mostly route running,'' Harris said. "Most of the time I did cone drills, drills that help your footwork, drills that help you breakdown into a route, drills to work on your hip flexors. I feel the difference.''

Harris said he has offers from Miami, Florida International, Mississippi, Mississippi State, West Virginia, Central Florida and Kansas State.
