Keon Braswell

Keon Braswell, 6-1, 185, 4.33, Miami Norland HS

Florida State, Florida, Missouri and Colorado

Keon originally verballed to Rutgers, then decommitted and verballed to Missouri but now is reported to be recommited back to Rutgers. I caught up with Keon and talked about his change of heart.

You originally verballed to Rutgers and then decided to go to Missouri. Why did you change your mind back to Rutgers?

"I was really undecided and I decided to go to Missouri. It was in part my father's influence who liked Missouri but I like the Rutgers' coaching staff. They are very dedicated to the program. They have a great head coach and the potential to be great. I loved the visit and I committed when I got home. I had decided on Missouri for a while but recommitted to Rutgers yesterday. I talked to Darren Rizzi and Mario Cristobal and told them I was coming."

Did the decision of Miguel Scott to go to NC State have anything to do with your choice?

"It had nothing to do with my decision."

Will you stay with your decision to go to Rutgers?

"There is a possible chance that I would change my mind. Florida State and Missouri are still recruiting me and I would still consider them. I have been recruited by a lot of schools but Rutgers, Florida State and Missouri were always my main choices."

When will you finally decide the issue once and for all, will it be letter of intent day?

"It'll be the day before letter of intent day"

Would you call your verbal to Rutgers a soft verbal?

"No, I wouldn't say that. I really like them a lot."

Braswell was ranked the 81st best player in the State of Florida by the Daytona Beach News Journal going into this season. He is noted a physical "cover guy" whose punishing hits either separate receivers from the ball or make them remember that Keon will be out there for the next play.

In a prior article Keon's dad noted:

"Keon played on the State Championship team. The beat Dillard, Carol City, Northwestern and others. Keon broke up the pass that got them to the state championship game. That play on a sixty yard pass got him the award for the best performance of the week. He was All Dade County and All South Florida. He was rated the number two player in Dade County. He had over 70 tackles despite missing 2 games with an injury. He is a real hitter. He'll run you down and hit you. When he hits you, he hurts you. He is a good cover guy who can play corner or safety. He can kick the ball also. I have seen him kick the ball from the 30 yard line into the end zone. I have seen him do it. He is a great all around athlete."
