Yes, those DePaolas.
Vince is the younger brother of former Scarlet Knights long snapper Andrew, and of current fullback Nick. And Vince also happens to be a talented running back/strong safety at Hereford, and is getting recruited by the Scarlet Knights, Maryland and James Madison.
"Every day of the week I get mail from (Rutgers), so I think it's pretty high interest,'' DePaola said. "It seems like they like me a lot.''
The 5-foot-11, 180-pouund DePaola didn't need the introductions to the Rutgers coaching staff nor directions to get around the Hale Center, but he finally got a behind-the-scenes tour that showed him a new side of the school.
"I feel pretty comfortable at Rutgers, but Maryland is pretty close to my house,'' DePaola said. "My brothers told me a lot of inside stuff (about Rutgers) that's made me think about wanting to go there. (Saturday), I went around and saw the weight room, and got the inside scoop on a lot of things. It was really cool.''
Prior to that DePaola got the skinny on the campus with a twist of family knowledge.
"I know the coaches pretty well from my brothers and everything,'' DePaola said. "My brothers took me around College Avenue, and they took my around the Rutgers campus. It was pretty neat.''
Rutgers is looking at DePaola as an athlete, which is fine with him. He enjoys running back and safety, although he acknowledged playing offense is more enjoyable.
And while an offer may not be on the horizon over the next month, a big thing for DePaola is getting more exposure via the camp circuit, and he plans on making the rounds.
"In the summer I want to do the Rutgers camp, want to do Maryland's camp,'' he said. "I want to do a lot of camps, go to a bunch of schools. Maybe go to the North Carolina camp.''
