The 6-foot-5, 230-pound Koyack has been in contact with Rutgers for the last few months in an effort to learn more about the coaching staff, and the school.
"I've been keeping in contact with them,'' Koyack said. "I've been talking to coach (Greg) Schiano. I haven't really looked into the program yet. I don't know how much they throw to the tight end, that kind of stuff yet. I still have to look at that.
"I've talked to him over Facebook and stuff like that. We haven't been talking about football. It's more just kind of getting to know each other.''
Koyack is the No. 2 rated tight end by Scout.com, and for good reason.
In the last two seasons he has 89 catches for 1,548 yards and 17 touchdowns, and that is making the transition to the position after playing quarterback as a freshman.
But he is yet to make a decision on where he will visit in the summer, or when he will trim his list.
"I'm going to wait a couple of months and see what happens,'' he said. "Right now it's a little too early for that.''
Koyack is deep into the double digit offers, and is leaning toward a few of the traditional powers.
"I definitely put Notre Dame, Ohio State and Penn State at the top of my list,'' Koyack said. "I'm not too sure about anything else. Those are the schools I've visited the most and the schools I'm most familiar with.''
Koyack is spending his spring throwing the javelin for Oil City, but after that he has a lot of thinking and planning to do if he wants to decide on a school by his target date.
"I plan on committing before the season,'' he said.
