Kelly and Company
John Kelly a Penn State bound center at DePaul High School hit a 15 footer over Darryl Watkins saturday afternoon, as DePaul defeated heavily favored Paterson Catholic 61-59. The Passaic County Spartans at 21-0 are the only undefeated team in the state. The final 1.4 seconds was filled with controversy as Watkins hit a 3 pointer at the buzzer. The officials ruled that the inbounds pass to freshman Kammai Barrett was caught out of bounds but an independent video showed that Barrett was in the air when he caught and threw the ball to Watkins. Due to tournament regulations there can be no appeal. Rutgers bound Marquis Webb and Watkins combined 36 points and 23 rebounds. PC won the tournament last year and was looking to repeat.
