Does Four-star Jennings Still Like Rutgers?

Rutgers offered The Gilman School (Baltimore) athlete Darius Jennings in the fall, and he has continued to the keep the Scarlet Knights on his list. But as's No. 15-rated receiver in the 2011 class gets ready to trim his list, he talks about whether Rutgers is still under consideration?

The Gilman School (Baltimore) athlete Darius Jennings was on Rutgers' campus twice in the winter, and that was enough for him to learn about the football program and the facilities.

So, as the 5-foot-11, 175-pound Jennings, who is rated a four-star receiver by, gets ready to trim his schools, are the Scarlet Knights still on his radar?

"They are," said Jennings, who plays quarterback at The Gilman School. "I went up there for their junior day in January and I went up there for a 7-on-7, and their facilities are great."

However, Jennings is in the process of building a relationship with his recruitment coach, Rutgers defensive line coach Randy Melvin.

Jennings was being recruited by Gary Emanuel, who left Rutgers in early February and headed to Purdue.

"I'm still getting to know the new coaches there," Jennings said. "I want to feel them out first before I make any decisions. I've been dealing with coach Melvin, and he's been giving me a lot of information on Rutgers."

Rutgers is recruiting Jennings as an athlete, and his position in college is open for debate. Some schools are recruiting Jennings as a receiver, others as a cornerback, and a few are also looking at him as an all-purpose running back.

Jennings isn't sure what position he wants to play in college, and right now he said it is not an issue in his recruitment.

"But later on it will be," he said. "Some schools don't know where they want me yet. I would like to have a plan, but I don't know. We'll see."
