Florida CB Holding Rutgers Offer

Rutgers not only is recruiting south Florida hard, but also looking at plenty of prospects on the Gulf Coast. One player getting strong interest from the Scarlet Knights is Countryside High (Clearwater, Fla.) cornerback Alex Dixon, who spoke to ScarletReport.com about Rutgers, his recruitment and when he will trim his list contenders. Find out inside what Dixon had to say.

Countryside High (Clearwater, Fla.) cornerback Alex Dixon likes what Rutgers assistant coach Chris Hewitt is telling him about the Scarlet Knights, which is the reason he wants to learn more about the program.

Dixon was offered by Rutgers during the spring evaluation period, when his recruitment exploded. He went from a handful of offers to well over a dozen.

"I watch (Rutgers) on t.v. because they play a lot on t.v.," the 6-foot, 180-pound Dixon said. "They're supposed to be a good school, but that's all I really know about them."

Dixon already visited Florida, Florida State, South Florida and Nebraska, and is trying to schedule more visits. However, none are set at the moment.

Among the things Dixon desires in a college are "academics and my relationship with the coaches and playing time."

As a junior, Dixon made four interceptions. During the spring evaluation period, Dixon impressed recruiters with his athleticism and physical play at the corner spot.

He is trying to shorten his offer list, which includes, Rutgers, Florida, Auburn, Florida State, Clemson and Pittsburgh, in the next month.

However, Dixon is uncertain when it comes to when he will make a decision.

"I don't know specifically what date, but I know it's going to be some time," Dixon said. "All I know right now is I'm trying to shorten my list up, so that's what I'm doing. I know some of the schools, but I'm going to talk it over with my mom before I say anything."
