Florida CB Visiting Rutgers Monday

Dillard High (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) cornerback Allen Ramsey committed to Maryland two months, but he is still visiting other schools. One trip he is making will be to Rutgers, but what is his interest level in the Scarlet Knights? Ramsey spoke with ScarletReport.com about his recruitment, and whether he is coming just to camp, or if he is going to give the Scarlet Knights a serious look.

Two months ago Dillard High (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) cornerback Allen Ramsey took a visit to Maryland, like what he saw and experienced, and committed to the Terps.

But it hasn't kept him from looking at other schools, and one place he is going to check out is Rutgers.

The 5-foot-11, 175-pound Ramsey will be on the Rutgers campus Monday to take part in one of the Scarlet Knights' camps, and also to get a better look at the school

"I'm interested in Rutgers," Ramsey said. "I want to see what they have to offer."

Ramsey is being recruited by Rutgers receivers coach P.J. Fleck, and the two are in communication regularly.

"He's cool. I like him as a coach," Ramsey said. "He writes me on Facebook almost every day. We get in contact some kind of way. I might call him a couple times a week."

The three-star Ramsey is Scout.com's No. 51 ranked cornerback in the 2011 class, and the teammate of Rutgers target Daerius Washington, a linebacker who is being recruited to play safety with the Scarlet Knights.

Rutgers is the only camp Ramsey is scheduled to attend so far. He was set to camp at South Florida this weekend, but Dillard is taking part in a 7-on-7 passing tournament, so he is going there instead.

But he is going to continue to look at other schools, and Rutgers is high on his list.

"I want to keep my options open," Ramsey said. "I know there are a couple players from Florida up (at Rutgers). I've seen a couple of games on television. I saw a couple of Thursday night games."

In fact, Rutgers will have more than a dozen players from Florida on its 2010 roster.

Ramsey said he remains committed to Maryland, but at the request of his mom, is also looking at other schools to make sure the fit is right. So, what did he enjoy during his visit to Maryland in the spring that led him to committing?

"They treated me like family when I was on campus," he said. "They made me feel welcome when I came up there, and really made me feel part of the team. I met the whole coaching staff and talked to everybody."
