Big East Basketball - Disaster for Nova
PHILADELPHIA - Villanova suspended 12 basketball players, including leading scorers Gary Buchanan and Ricky Wright, yesterday for allegedly making unauthorized telephone calls.
The suspensions will leave Villanova with only seven players available for today's regular-season finale against No. 7 Pittsburgh, and the Wildcats will be short-handed for the Big East Tournament.

ATLANTA - Mike Nickeas' two-out RBI single in the bottom of the ninth inning and Steven Blackwood's solo home run to lead off the 10th Saturday lifted Georgia Tech to a 6-5 baseball win over Rutgers.With the Scarlet Knights leading, 5-4, Clifton Remole hit a one-out single to right field for the Yellow Jackets (13-0). Pinch-runner Garrett Groce stole second base and tied the game at 5-5 when he scored on Nickeas' single to right-center field.Georgia Tech reliever Jeff Watchko (1-0) retired the side in the top of the 10th inning to earn the win. O.J. DeChristophino (0-2) took the loss for the Scarlet Knights (1-6).
