Law Ready for Next Rutgers Trip

Bishop McNamara (Forestville, Md.) safety Nico Law is getting ready to make some summer visits, and on his list are Rutgers, Louisville and Cincinnati. The 6-foot-3, 190-pound Law has been to Rutgers before, but will get a much different look at the school than when he was last there. Law spoke with about what he hopes to see during his next trip to New Jersey.

Bishop McNamara (Forestville, Md.) safety Nicholas Law has been quiet on the recruiting front, but it is about to pick up with two visits this week, and then one in the next month to Rutgers.

The 6-foot-3, 190-pound Law said he continues to speak with members of the Scarlet Knights coaching staff, and his interest is remains very high in Rutgers.

"I should be visiting within the next month or so," Law said. "I have a lot of interest in that school, and if I'm interested in that school, I want to make sure everything that I like is for the right reasons."

Law has been on campus before, the last time being for a spring scrimmage, and knows plenty about the football program and the academics of the school.

However, there is another aspect of the school Law wants to get a better look at.

"I haven't really experienced the area up there," Law said. "I haven't been to every part of the campus. I think when I go up there next time, I'll get a full tour of the whole school, and explore around the different areas."

Law's most recent offer is from Kansas, and this week he will visit Cincinnati and Louisville.

"I've cut my list to eight schools, but I don't want to put them out there right now," Law said. "I want to keep a low profile. I cut it to eight from about 16, so that's a lot. My coach keeps telling me to make sure the people I cut are for the right reasons, and to keep in mind that just because I haven't gotten many offers recently, I will be getting more offers."

Playing for an accomplished program like Bishop McNamara, Law has the opportunity to speak with a plethora of other players to experience the recruiting process and help him navigate through oft-confusing situations.

And among those confidants is Scarlet Knights freshman receiver Brandon Coleman, who accompanied Law on his spring visit to New Jersey.

"Everybody tells you to follow your heart," Law said, "but it's hard to follow your heart when you like more than one school."

While Law tries to make visits and gain a clearer picture of his recruitment, he is also working out and attending summer school in preparation of his senior season.

Law also has a date circled on his calendar, but Aug. 4 is not his intended decision date.

"That's when we get full equipment on, and I get to knock off some heads," he said. "I'm excited about the season. There's a lot of people that have high expectations for me, but I really don't think about it."
