Aiken Talks Rutgers, Possible Visits

A month ago Chaminade Madonna Prep (Hollywood, Fla.) cornerback Johnathan Aiken showcased his skills during a camp at Rutgers, and afterward talked about his enjoyment of the school and where the Scarlet Knights ranked. With time passing and Aiken able to fully digest what took place in New Jersey, he updated about his recruitment, and his feelings for the Scarlet Knights.

Chaminade Madonna Prep (Hollywood, Fla.) cornerback Johnathan Aiken left Rutgers camp nearly a month ago with a strong feeling about the Scarlet Knights.

Given time to sit, relax and think about things, the situation has gained clarity.

Aiken really likes Rutgers, and when considering which schools he would like to visit, there are only two he knows for sure.

"Definitely Rutgers," Aiken said. "That's a definite. UCLA is a definite. Going to Rutgers is something I really want to do. I've been thinking about West Virginia, and a couple of other ones."

The 5-foot-11, 185-pound Aiken isn't reacting to Rutgers because it is the first place he visited. He also went to Florida this summer and camped at Ohio State last season, but he experienced something different during his Rutgers trip.

"Now that I came back, it's still like, ‘Oh, I like those coaches,' " Aiken said. "I feel that they were really there for me. When I went to Florida, two days later I forgot I went to Florida. With Rutgers, I still like it a lot.

"With New Jersey, it wasn't even a visit. It was a camp. They gave me a tour, but I can only imagine how my actual visit would be. I actually didn't want to leave. I wanted to stay a couple extra days."

Chaminade Maddona's season begins Aug. 27 against Lely of Naples (Fla.), and Aiken is trying to work out visits during the early fall. He is talking to Rutgers receivers coach P.J. Fleck about dates to visit, and then will make decision.

"I'll definitely take some official visits," he said. "I'm hoping for a decision early in the season. I at least want to take a couple official visits. It won't be as late as signing day. I know that as a fact."
