Mary Kline Classic Preview

On Saturday afternoon, the 2012 Mary Kline Classic will take place at The Pennginton School. The event, put together by The Recruit Scoop's Alex Kline in honor of his mother, who passed away from brain cancer, donates all proceeds to The National Brain Tumor Society.

The event features an upperclassman game, an underclassman game, a dunk contest, and a three-point contest. Hawk Hill Hardwood will be among the media outlets covering the day's events.

The Seniors game features a number of commits to local schools. Two future Villanova Wildcats will be participating, with point guard Ryan Arcidiacono and post Daniel Ochefu both playing. Temple is also well-represented, with commits Daniel Dingle and Quenton DeCosey both participating.

The underclassman game is absolutely loaded and likely features a handful of future pros. In addition, there are a number of Saint Joseph's recruiting targets who will be playing.

6'5 Princeton Day School (NJ) wing guard Davon Reed is one of the headliners in the underclassman game. Reed is arguably Saint Joseph's top recruiting target in 2013, and has seen his recruitment continue to skyrocket this spring.

Sticking in the class of 2013, Saint Anthony (NJ) shooting guard Hallice Cooke will be participating. Cooke had a terrific April Live Period, garnering all sorts of praise for his play at the Pitt Jam Fest and the Real Deal in the Rock. The 6'3 guard continues to be tracked heavily by schools like Saint Joseph's, VCU, and many more.

Saint Patrick's (NJ) teammates DeAndre Bembry and Jared Nickens will also be competing on Saturday. Nickens, a 6'5 shooting guard, attended at least one Saint Joseph's game this year, and is also being tracked heavily by Saint Joseph's and VCU. Nickens and Cooke are both participating in the three-point shooting contest. Bembry, at right around 6'6, is an elite level athlete. He will be throwing down in the dunk contest.

Another North Jersey junior, Isaiah Watkins, rounds out the 2013 SJU recruiting targets involved in Saturday's action. Watkins, a 6'8 power forward who runs with the top AAU team in America right now, CIA Bounce, holds in excess of 40 scholarship offers, including one from Saint Joseph's.

In the class of 2014, there are two Hawk targets involved in the action. Big-time power forward Ben Bentil, who Hawk Hill Hardwood saw last weekend at the Philly Jam Fest, is one of the sophomores playing. His AAU teammate with We R 1, shooting guard Kaison Randolph, is also on the Red Underclassman team. Both Bentil and Randolph attended Saint Joseph's home games this past season.

In addition to the Saint Joseph's targets, there are some truly elite caliber players involved in Saturday's game. Junior wing Rondae Jefferson, junior combo forward Jermaine Lawrence, sophomore combo forward Chris McCullough, sophomore wing Wayne Seldon, and freshman guard Isaiah Briscoe are among the main attractions.

Saturday's event is going to be a great one, with a handful of future pros, and for a tremendous cause. Hawk Hill Hardwood will be on hand to recap the action and provide recruiting updates.
