Overton in demand

With college coaches packing the gyms at Philadelphia University, the campers at Reebok's Breakout Challenge were looking to impress on Thursday. One player in attendance this week is Saint Joseph's Prep (PA) 2013 guard Miles Overton. Overton has a number of schools actively involved in his recruitment, and he spoke with Hawk Hill Hardwood about that following an afternoon win.

Miles Overton helped his team on Thursday to an afternoon win over a team led by Harvard signee Zena Edosomwan, big-time talents Dwayne Morgan, Keith Frazier, Wade Baldwin, and more. In the afternoon game, Overton connected on three jumpers from three. Miles also used his size and strength to corral a number of offensive rebounds and earn himself trips to the free-throw line.

Overton turned in a strong effort defensively, frequently matched up with Keith Frazier. In a tie ball game, Overton forced a turnover that led to teammate Rysheed Jordan hitting the game-winner in the contest's closing seconds.

When looking at Overton, his size and strength really stand out, as he already possesses a college-ready body. He also has confidence in his game. Despite missing a few jumpers early, Miles kept at it and eventually got hot from the field.

After getting the win, Hawk Hill Hardwood spoke with the talented combo guard about the state of his recruitment.

One school that has been active in their recruitment is Wake Forest, a school that Miles recently visited unofficially. "I liked it a lot," Overton stated. "I got to meet the entire staff when I was down there and really liked the campus," he continued. Wake is one of the many schools to already extend an offer his way.

Playing basketball in Philadelphia, it is only fitting that the city schools are among the most involved in his recruitment. Miles said that, with the exception of Penn, every city school is recruiting him. Villanova, Temple, La Salle, Drexel, and Saint Joseph's make up the Philadelphia schools pursuing him.

Miles told Hawk Hill Hardwood that he will play the remainder of July alongside his Philly Pride teammates, which include Rysheed Jordan, Jeremiah Worthem, Darius Robinson, Quadir Welton, and more. Following a busy July, he does intend to make some summer visits.

Xavier, Virginia Tech, and Saint Joseph's are the three schools Miles said that he intends to visit in August. He did attend a Saint Joseph's home game this winter, as he did with many of the other local schools. Xavier had head coach Chris Mack in the house at Reebok yesterday.

With his size, ability to shoot from deep, and willingness to get after it on the defensive side of the ball, Miles Overton has become a hot name among college coaches, not only locally, but also in the ACC.
