Tevon Saddler, a 6'5 Baltimore wing in the class of 2013, received an offer from Saint Joseph's on Monday. According to Tevon, that offer from the Hawks is one of many that he has on the table at the moment. In addition to St. Joe's, Saddler listed offers from "Delaware, Loyola Marymount, Towson, UNC-Greensboro, and South Florida."
Saddler, who runs with Baltimore's Finest on the AAU circuit, put together a strong month of July after being forced to sit out April's live periods with an ankle injury. Among the events that Saddler participated in during July were the Hoop Group Elite Camp, Under Armour Summer Jam, and The Takeover in Maryland.
During July, Tevon took note of the schools that were courtside during his games. Among those that he noticed watching him during the July live periods were "St. Joe's, UNC-Greensboro, Delaware, South, Florida, Towson, URI, Missouri, and Loyola Marymount."
What exactly are these schools after in their recruitment of Saddler? "I'm just a playmaker," Saddler said in describing his game. "I want to make plays, whether it's passing, scoring, defending, anything," he continued. At a well-built 6'5, Tevon has the ability to play multiple positions. "On offense I can play the one through the three," Tevon stated. "Defensively, I can guard the one through the four."
While he is not on the verge of making a college decision, Saddler does have an idea what he is looking for in a school. "I want a family bond," he began. "A school with a good atmosphere." A strong student, Saddler explained that academics would play a role in addition to basketball. A Baltimore native, Tevon talked about whether location would play a role in his decision. "No, location's not really a factor," he stated.
With his older brother Devon a rising junior at Delaware, the Blue Hens are also involved in Tevon's recruitment. However, Tevon said that his brother being at Delaware would play "no role at all" in his college decision.
Prior to making his college decision, Tevon plans to take some visits. "I will take my official visits in September," he explained, also adding that he was unsure exactly what schools would get official visits at the moment.
On Monday, Saint Joseph's officially threw their hat in the ring with Tevon Saddler's recruitment. The 6'5 scoring wing, coming off a strong July, has a firm grasp of what he looking for in a school. After taking official visits in September, he will decide exactly what school is the right fit, both academically and athletically.
