Head Hawk watches local guard

On Wednesday afternoon, Saint Joseph's head coach Phil Martelli made the quick trip from Hawk Hill to Pennsylvania's Abington High School to check out a senior point guard. Hawk Hill Hardwood caught up with the athletic senior guard moments ago.

Abington (PA) senior point guard Anthony Durham has seen his recruiting stock soar through the roof over recent weeks. On Wednesday afternoon, Phil Martelli stopped in to check out an open gym.

Last week, St. Joe's assistant Dave Duda watched the long, hyper-athletic 6'3 point guard. On Wednesday, it was the head Hawk.

In addition to SJU on Wednesday, Durham informed Hawk Hill Hardwood that he was watched by Hofstra and UMBC on Tuesday afternoon.

On Sunday, Durham says that he took an unofficial visit to Drexel. This coming weekend, he will be visiting another Philadelphia school. He told Hawk Hill Hardwood that he would be taking an unofficial visit to St. Joe's, "going up there to watch the guys practice and everything."

Last week, Anthony collected scholarship offers from Saint Bonaventure and Saint Francis. He will take an unofficial visit to Saint Francis this coming Friday.

At the moment, the Hawks have just one commitment in the 2013 class. That commitment happens to belong to Anthony's AAU teammate and friend Jai Williams. Both Jai and Anthony ran with the Hunting Park Warriors/Team FOE. The Hawks are recruiting a few other players from that AAU program, including highly-regarded 2015 combo forward Carnel Harley.

Continue to check back with Hawk Hill Hardwood for the latest on the point guard Anthony Durham.
