Over the course of three hours last night, two separate reports surfaced. The first, from Hawk Hill Hardwood, indicated that Jai Williams, the 6'9 Philadelphia forward, would ink with the Hawks on Friday.
Hours later, Alex Schwartz of NorthStarBall wrote that Jai would not be signing with St. Joe's until the Spring, but was still 100% committed to the Hawks.
So where do things stand at the moment?
Several sources with direct knowledge of the situation told Hawk Hill Hardwood on Thursday that Williams would in fact be waiting until the Spring to sign with St. Joe's. The wait has nothing to do with Williams waiting for another program, and he does in fact remain 100% committed to the Hawks.
Each source indicated that Williams would be signing with St. Joe's in the Spring, and that there was no doubt about it.
The reasons for the choice to wait until the Spring Signing Period are not public at the moment. Jai Williams will not be signing a Letter of Intent this fall, but is fully expected to put his pen to paper in the Spring.
