February 17th recruiting roundup

It was a busy week for many of Saint Joseph's top recruiting targets. Take a look inside to see how those targets played and who the Hawk coaching staff checked in on.

On Thursday evening, head Hawk Phil Martelli checked in on 2014 wing target Terry Larrier. The 6'8 Larrier holds an offer from the Hawks, and has emerged as one of the Hawks top targets at the wing in 2014. Larrier had 14 points in a 70-44 win on Thursday night.

On Friday night, Roman Catholic took down Archbishop Wood 55-44, and in the process advanced to the Philadelphia Catholic League semifinals. Those semifinals will take place at The Palestra Wednesday night. Saint Joseph's took in Roman's win over Wood. 2014 Hawk recruiting target Shep Garner was the person of interest for the SJU coaching staff. He had 8 points in the win.

The Hawk coaching staff checked in on another 2014 recruiting target earlier this week. Fairfield Prep (CT) 7-footer Pascal Chukwu holds a Hawk offer, and recently attended St. Joe's win over Temple. In a Fairfield Prep win over Career Magnet. In the win, Chukwu had 23 points, 13 rebounds, and 13 blocks.

A fourth player that Saint Joseph's watched this week was 6'6 Great Valley (PA) wing Mikal Bridges. Great Valley lost a tight contest to Coatesville (PA) on Tuesday with SJU looking on. They rebounded with a win Friday night over Truman. In the win, Bridges had 17 points. Bridges is still relatively under the radar, but his stock is exploding at the moment, and will likely continue to increase this spring when he plays for Team Final on the travel circuit.

Medford Tech (NJ) went 2-1 this week. 2014 6'5 combo guard Elijah Cain is one of the Hawks' top 2014 targets. In a win Tuesday over Delran, Cain had 39 points.

On Wednesday of this coming week, the Philadelphia Catholic League playoffs will take place at The Palestra. Hawk Hill Hardwood will have those games, featuring Roman Catholic-St. Joe's Prep and Neumann-Archbishop Carroll, covered. Berks Catholic (PA) knocked off Reading (PA) in a big playoff win Friday night. Berks Catholic has a big-time Division 1 prospect in 6'9 junior Nana Foulland. Foulland had 17 points and 14 rebounds in the win. Temple and St. Joe's are two schools that have been active in their recruitment of Foulland as of late.
