Busy Week on Hawk Hill

As June comes to a close, and the July Live Periods loom on the horizon, coaches across the country are hosting many of their top recruiting targets. Phil Martelli and the St. Joe's Hawks had a handful of visitors this week.

Last Saturday, the 22nd, Saint Joseph's hosted one of their top 2014 recruiting targets, 5'11 Cardinal Hayes (NY) point guard Shavar Newkirk. Newkirk, who runs with Team Scan on the EYBL, is a pass-first point guard who is also a pest defensively. His visit to Hawk Hill was an unofficial visit. Newkirk will be tracked heavily by the Saint Joseph's coaching staff in July.

On Monday, 2015 Salesianum (DE) guard Donte DiVincenzo took an unofficial visit to St. Joe's. DiVincenzo is a 6'3 wing guard who runs with Team Final on the AAU circuit. At the moment, DiVincenzo already holds an offer from La Salle, and is seeing substantial mid and high major interest.

The visits continued on Wednesday when the Saint Joseph's coaching staff hosted 2014 Hyde (CT) power forward Kenny Grant. Grant, a strong 6'9 forward, runs on the supremely talented Sports U 17u team alongside Maryland commit Jared Nickens, high-major priority recruit Quadri Moore, Hawk recruiting target Tarin Smith, and more. Grant does not have a Hawk offer, but will be followed by the coaching staff in July. His AAU teammate, 6'1 Saint Anthony (NJ) point guard Tarin Smith, is one of the Hawks' top guard targets.

Thursday saw the Hawks host two high school teammates. Newark East Side (NJ) teammates, Ismael Sanogo and Ahmad Harrison, trekked to Hawk Hill on Thursday. Sanogo is a 6'5 2014 small forward who plays AAU with the New Jersey Roadrunners. Harrison, on the other hand, is a 2015 point guard who runs with Sports U's 16u team.

This post will be updated later today and then again tomorrow as there are other potential visits scheduled.
