National High School Basketball Tournament

The 2014 National High School Invitational (NHSI) launched in 2009 as a way to pit the country's top high school basketball programs against one another in a season-ending tournament. This year's tournament will begin April 3rd in New York City. Northside Christian Academy, which features 2014 Hawk commit James Demery, is one of eight teams participating.

6'5 wing guard James Demery is the crown jewel of what is a very talented, and well-balanced, 2014 recruiting class for Saint Joseph's. Demery's Northside Christian Academy (NC) team put together a tremendous season, losing only once, to Montverde Academy (FL).

Northside Christian is the #3 seed in the 8-team tournament. Montverde Academy, the one team to beat NCA all year long, is the #1 seed in the tournament. Findlay Prep (NV) and Huntington Prep (WV) are two of the other marquee names in the field.

The first-round match-ups are as follows. Northside Christian-Oak Hill Academy. Rainier Beach (WA) against Findlay Prep. La Lumiere (IL) against Huntington Prep. Lastly, Montverde against Sagemont (FL) round out the field.

NCA will open the tournament on Thursday, April 3rd at 2 pm against Oak Hill Academy (NC). The game, which will be played in New York City at Christ the King High School, is also televised nationally on ESPNU. The winner of that one will play Friday at 2:30 on ESPN2. The championship game, played at noon on Saturday, April 5th, takes place at Madison Square Garden.

James Demery is the main draw if you are a Hawk fan. That being said, Saint Joseph's is actively recruiting Oak Hill Academy junior point guard Terrence Phillips. Phillips, a 5'11 point guard, is one of several point guards Phil Martelli and staff are eyeing in the 2015 recruiting class.

James Demery will play a major role on Hawk Hill as a freshman next year. Hawk fans that want to get an early look at him can do exactly that on April 3rd. Hawk Hill Hardwood will have a full recap of that game up post-game.
