Hawks on national television this week

While the 2013-2014 college basketball season is over for every team not named Kentucky, Florida, UConn, and Wisconsin, there is still basketball to be played for fans of other teams. St. Joe's, for example, can watch two seniors from this past year's team as well as one incoming freshman on national television this week. Free look inside.

Hawk seniors Ron Roberts and Halil Kanacevic, as well as Northside Christian Academy (NC) senior, and incoming Hawk, James Demery will all appear on national TV this week.

James Demery's high school team, Northside Christian Academy, squares off with perennial powerhouse Oak Hill Academy in the Dick's Sporting Goods National High School Invitational on Thursday afternoon. The game, played at Christ the King High School(NY), will be televised on ESPNU at 2 o'clock on Thursday.

The NHSI is an eight-team tournament that pits the country's best high school basketball teams against one another to crown a national champion. Other teams in the field include Montverde Academy (FL), Findlay Prep (NV), and more. Northside Christian Academy enters as the #3 seed, playing 6-seed Oak Hill for the right to move on and play again on Friday afternoon. The championship game is to be played Saturday at Madison Square Garden, and televised nationally on ESPN.

The State Farm College Slam Dunk and 3-Point Championship is set to take place Thursday night at SMU's Moody Coliseum. The event will be televised live on ESPN beginning at 8 pm. St. Joe's senior forward Ronald Roberts Jr. was selected as one of the participants.

Roberts will be battling fellow high-flyers Cleanthony Early (Wichita State), Cory Jefferson (Baylor), Adreian Payne (Michigan State), Marcus Lewis (EKU) and more. Over his four years on Hawk Hill, Roberts blessed Hawk fans with dozens of highlight-reel dunks. He will have one more chance to put on the Hawk jersey, and put on a show, Thursday night in the slam dunk contest.

Senior forward Halil Kanacevic has also been selected to participate in a post-season event. Earlier today, it was announced that Kanacevic has been chosen to play in the Reese's Division 1 College All-Star Game. The game is part of this weekend's Final Four festivities. Kanacevic will play for the East All-Stars, coached by Maryland head coach Mark Turgeon..

The game will be aired on CBS Saturday afternoon at noon.

As a senior on Hawk Hill, Kanacevic averaged 10.8 points, 8.8 rebounds, 4.4 assists, and 1.5 blocks per contest. Kanacevic was named First Team All-Atlantic 10 this year. He was also the conference tournament's Most Outstanding Player, as he helped guide the Hawks to their first Atlantic 10 title in 17 years.

Hawk fans that just can't wait until summer league to get their next fix are in luck. Hawk commit James Demery and high-flying senior Ron Roberts are both on the ESPN family Thursday, and then do-it-all forward Halil Kanacevic is on CBS at noon on Saturday. It's a nice final look at the graduating seniors, and an early peek at a significant part of the future.
