May 15th round-up

Tonight, Hawk Hill Hardwood takes a look at the past week while also previewing this weekend's EYBL Session 3. The number of offers extended in the 2015 recruiting class grew this week when the Hawks offered two junior power forwards. All the latest is inside.

Last Tuesday, St. Joe's head coach Phil Martelli extended a number of offers. Junior point guards Justin Robinson, Jonathan Jean, and Terrence Phillips joined Traci Carter and Lamarr Kimble as lead guards with offers from the Hawks in 2015. The offers showed that the Hawk coaching staff is willing to move outside of city limits in their recruiting. Robinson is from Saint James (MD), Phillips is from Oak Hill Academy (VA), and Jean is from East Bay (FL).

Jean wasn't the only Florida guard to pick up a Hawk offer last Tuesday. 6'4 First Academy (FL) shooting guard Fletcher Magee also collected a Hawk offer. Magee joins Chris Clover, Malik Ellison, Levan Alston, Trey Lowe, and C.J. Keyser as 2015 shooting guards with Hawk offers. It's clear that the Hawks are interested in a wing guard in 2015 that can stretch the floor and shoot from the perimeter. Magee, Clover, Lowe, and Alston are all known as terrific three-point shooters.

Since those new offers were reported last week, two new offers surfaced. 6'8 Clinton Christian (MD) power forward Develle Phillips announced last week that the Hawks had extended him an offer. Phillips runs with DC Assault on the AAU circuit, and has listed Cincinnati, Rutgers, DePaul, Ohio, and Xavier as schools involved. Phillips earned headlines in April when he threw down one of the dunks of the first live period, throwing it down over 7'1 sensation Thon Maker. St. Joe's has had success in the Baltimore area over the past decade, from Delonte West to current Hawk Isaiah Miles.

The Hawks also offered 2015 Tabor (MA) forwad Jesse Bunting. Bunting is a 6'7 forward who possesses high-level athleticism, a great motor, and some ball skills. He runs with Nike's Expressions Elite on the summer circuit. According to New England Basketball Report, Bunting also holds an offer from Holy Cross, as well as interest from Northeastern, Saint Bonaventure, Buffalo, San Diego, and more. Look for Bunting's offer sheet to continue to grow, as there is a lot to like about the hyper-athletic rebounding forward.

Bunting and Phillips join Ernest Aflakpui and Luke Maye as primary big man targets in 2015.

Now we will turn our attention to this coming weekend's Nike EYBL Session 3 in Hampton, Virginia. Scout, as always, will have complete coverage of the weekend's action.

Levan Alston, Lamarr Kimble, and Trey Lowe will all continue to keep Team Final on a roll. All three hold Hawk offers, and play alongside Syracuse commit Malachi Richardson and Villanova commit Donte Divincenzo. St. Joe's has also expressed interest in 6'7 combo forward Ahmad Gilbert. Team Final is 7-1 to start EYBL play.

Two other teams that have gotten off to strong starts also feature Hawk offers. Boo Williams is 6-2 with Justin Robinson running the point. Florida-based Each 1 Teach 1 is 6-1 with Fletcher Magee playing a vital role off the bench.

Jesse Bunting , who the Hawks offered last week, runs with Expressions Elite, who will be looking to improve upon a rough first two sessions of EYBL play. They currently stand at 2-6.

Jonathan Jean, the 5'11 point guard from East Bay (FL) who was offered by the Hawks last week, runs with Nike Team Florida, who stand at 3-5 through the first two sessions.

Terrence Phillips and CP3 are currently 1-6, but will look to turn things around this weekend. The same thing can be said Team United and Luke Maye. They are 2-6 despite Maye proving to be one of the most productive rebounders in the circuit. 6'8 Maye is a point forward type who rebounds at an extremely high level and can really shoot it form deep.

Of the names mentioned above, Levan Alston has probably seen his stock rise the most, with Luke Maye just behind. Lamarr Kimble, Trey Lowe, and Terrence Phillips have also been terrific throughout the first two stops. Check back with Scout throughout the weekend for updates on all the action in Hampton.
