First July Live Period is Here!

The first July live recruiting period begins this afternoon at 5 o’clock. Today, we take a look at where St. Joe’s top recruiting targets will be this week. Hawk Hill Hardwood will have local coverage, while the Scout national team has the rest of the country covered.

On Thursday, I will be at Philadelphia University for the Reebok Breakout Classic. Reebok announced rosters today. There is elite national talent in the likes of Arizona commit Justin Simon, 2015 scoring guard Dwayne Bacon, and 2016 5-star Tyus Battle. There are also over a dozen 2015 and 2016 Saint Joseph’s targets participating.

That list begins with 6’4 St. Joe’s Prep (PA) shooting guard Chris Clover, who has repeatedly stated that St. Joe’s and Temple stand out in his recruitment. Expect St. Joe’s to track him hard throughout the month. In addition to Clover, 6’4 2015 Patterson Mill (MD) combo guard C.J. Keyser holds and offer and will be playing. 6’9 Archbishop Carroll (PA) center Ernest Aflakpui, 6’8 Clinton Christian (MD) power forward Develle Phillips, and 6’7 River Hill (MD) power forward Charlie Thomas also hold St. Joe’s offers and will be playing. 6’7 St. Anthony (NJ) wing Markis McDuffie also has reported Hawk interest. That marks six 2015 players I will be keeping an eye on tomorrow.

In addition, the 2016 class has a handful of early Hawk targets, and potential targets, playing as well.

Then, this weekend is Elevate Hoops’ The Showdown event at Philadelphia Univerity. Unlike Reebok, which is a showcase event, The Showdown is an AAU event. We R-1, DC Warriors Philly Pride, Sports U, Team Philly, and Jersey Shore Warriors are all teams with St. Joe’s targets at the 16 and 17 levels.

While I am at Reebok, Scout’ s Rob Harrington will be at the Ty Lawson/Victor Oladipo camp at Bethesda High School (MD). A number of Hawk targets will be there, including Neumann-Goretti (PA) point guard Lamarr Kimble. Kimble is one of St. Joe’s top point guard targets in the 2015 class. Two other point guards SJU has offered will also be there, in Paul VI (VA) lead guard Kevin Dorsey and St. James (MD) point Justin Robinson. 6’4 First Academy (FL) shooting guard Fletcher Magee (offer) will be there, as will 6’7 St. Edward’s (OH) wing guard Kipper Nichols (offer). 6’3 Walnut Hills (OH) combo guard MaCio Teague, who has recent Hawk interest, will also be playing at the Lawson/Oladipo camp.

In addition to those two events, the LeBron James Skills Academy is taking place in Las Vegas. Local prospects Levan Alston (The Haverford School) and Trey Lowe (Ewing High) will both be there. St. Joe’s has offered both, but appear to be out of it with Alston. Lowe took an unofficial to SJU in June with his family.

The Adidas Invitational, Hoop Group Elite Camp, Best of the South, Best of the Best, Hoop Group Elite Team Camp, and more are also events during this first live period. Scout has you cove
