Late Monday night, 6'5 Ewing (NJ) shooting guard Trey Lowe announced via Twitter that he had cut his list of schools to four. Those four schools, he announced, are Temple, St. Joe's, SMU, and VCU.
Temple and St. Joe's, in addition to being local schools, have also been recruiting Lowe the longest, with both offering last summer.
After playing with We R-1 in previous years, Lowe ran with Nike's Team Final this past spring and summer. He averaged just over 10 points per game during EYBL play this season, playing alongside a host of high-major recruits like Malachi Richardson, Donte Divincenzo, Levan Alston, and Lamarr Kimble.
It is worth noting in Lowe's recruitment that he has discussed playing his college ball with AAU teammate Levan Alston. VCU and Temple would both make sense in that case. St. Joe's is also very involved with his AAU teammate, Lamarr Kimble. Just some food for thought.
Both Temple and St. Joe's are also involved with another local shooting guard. 6'4 St. Joe's Prep (PA) guard Chris Clover is also considering both the Hawks and Owls. While Lowe has cut his list and is targeting an August or September decision, Clover has not publicly stated his timeframe or list. Clover will be on Hawk Hill this coming weekend when St. Joe's Prep plays in SJU's team camp.
In other news, one of St. Joe's top point guard targets, Neumann-Goretti (PA) lead guard Lamarr Kimble announced that he collected La Salle and Creighton offers in recent weeks. He played well in EYBL play this year, averaging 8.1 points and 4.6 assists per contest.
Another St. Joe's target, Tabor (MA) power forward Jesse Bunting also parlayed a strong month of July into new offers. Per his AAU program, the athletic 6'7 forward has garnered new offers from Fairfield, Canisius, Albany, Fordham, and Duquese.
While Bunting turned a strong month into solid mid-major offers, a Philadelphia-area center turned a breakout month into a recruiting explosion. 6'9 Archbishop Carroll (PA) center Ernest Aflakpui had a fantastic summer with We R-1 and turned that into offers from Memphis, Seton Hall, Providence, VCU, and more. When I saw him this past weekend, he had George Washington, Temple, La Salle, and VCU tracking him. GW was three-deep all weekend long.
Tomorrow, I will have further updates. We will also be doing a live recruiting chat tomorrow at 9 pm, so feel free to stop by with your questions!
