April Live Recruiting Period Update

BillikenReport.com gives an update on how the first weekend of the April live recruiting period went for SLU targets.

The Saint Louis Billikens coaching staff hit the roads this weekend for the April live recruiting period.

Chris Harriman spent his time in Merrillville, Ind. checking out the Southwest Illinois Jets 16U squad. With Darius Austin, Darreon Reddick, C.J. Rivers, and Peyton Allen all as targets, it was important for the SLU staff to be present.

Austin has an offer from the Billikens, and scored 24 points in a pool game to go along with several double-digit efforts. He is squarely on the radar as a six-foot-six shooting guard. BillikenReport.com will see him play next weekend and will have a further evaluation.

Meanwhile, Jim Whitesell was in Minneapolis to check out some Nike EYBL action. The St. Louis Eagles went 1-3, but SLU target Jordan Martin played well over the course of their four games. At six-foot-eight, he understands how to get to the glass and has a high motor.

Whitesell also got the opportunity to see two players with SLU offers go head-to-head in Nick Fuller and Ted Friedman. Their teams faced off in the NY2LA title game with Friedman's Kingdom Hoops squad getting the best of Fuller's talented Wisconsin Swing bunch.

From all indications, Fuller had a tremendous weekend. He scored 28 points in the quarterfinals and showed an array of abilities on the court, according to several sources who were there.

Friedman also had a strong weekend, and will continue to develop and likely pick up more offers before the spring is out.

One player to keep an eye out for is P.J. Thompson. At five-foot-nine, he's a bit small, but he has a solid overall floor game. SLU was present for a couple of his games, and it may be interesting to watch his progression.

Zavier Turner was also in Indiana, his home state, and led the Eric Gordon 17U squad to a title. Although as I've reported on the board recently that SLU has cooled on his recruitment, all reports were that he impressed this weekend and it remains to be seen if there is a change of heart with the Billikens.

BillikenReport.com will be live from the Gym Rats Battle for the Arch next weekend where many of the aforementioned players will be in action.

Stay tuned for those updates and more!
