2013 Wing Nabs SLU Offer

A 2013 wing from Indiana got a SLU offer on Tuesday night. BillikenReport.com spoke with him about his feelings on the offer and where his recruitment stands. Is a decision coming soon?

On Tuesday evening, 2013 guard/forward Mike Crawford tweeted that he received an offer from SLU.

Crawford is a six-foot-five wing from Tipton (Ind.), which is about an hour due-north of Indianapolis.

Interim head coach Jim Crews has seen Crawford on a number of occasions, and it became official on Tuesday that he nabbed an offer from the Billikens.

"Crawford is most definitely a team-first player.

"I'm just a tough-nosed, hardworking player," he said. "I compete and do whatever it takes for us to win. I think when I'm at the top of my game, we're winning basketball games."

He holds other offers from New Orleans, SIUE, Yale, Stetson, Gardner-Webb, and Lamar.

Crawford feels strongly about the Billikens, though.

"They followed me a bunch this summer," he said. "After Coach [Rick] Majerus got sick, it kind of took a month off, but they came to an open gym and then Coach Crews came to the school. Tonight he called me and offered me a scholarship. . .It's a great school and all the research I've done on them is good. I think they're going to do big things this year."

A visit to Midtown may be in the future as well, with a decision coming sooner rather than later. Academics will be the main criteria, but overall fit is important, too.

"I'll probably make a decision in the November period," he said.
