On Tuesday evening, Saint Louis University and interim head coach Jim Crews nabbed its first commitment of the 2013 class in wing Mike Crawford.
"Just how I connected with the coaches," Crawford told BillikenReport.com about why he made his decision. "The other players were great and it felt like home."
Crawford spent this past weekend on the Midtown campus checking out what the Billikens had to offer on an official visit. He liked it enough to pull the trigger.
"I called Coach Crews and let him know," Crawford said. "He was excited and happy that I'm going to be joining the SLU family."
A native of Tipton, Ind., a state where SLU has done significant amounts of recruiting in recently, Crawford said he feels as though he has a lot to work on before he gets in the Atlantic 10.
"The step from high school basketball to college is a big one," he said. "I have to keep working. I want to go [to SLU] and do whatever it takes to win."
Crawford told BillikenReport.com that he chose SLU over New Orleans and SIU-Edwardsville.
