One of the better point guards in the Southeast, 2014 Jalyn Patterson, nabbed an offer from Saint Louis on Wednesday afternoon.
The diminutive lead guard was very happy to hear from the Billikens.
"They've been recruiting me for a while," he said. "I talk with Coach [Tanner] Bronson and Coach [Jim] Platt. I have a real good relationship with them."
Playing at Montverde Academy, Patterson has no shortage of competition during the school year.
"Each and every day in practice you get better playing against those guys," he said. "Kasey Hill and D'Angelo Russell and the rest of them."
Despite being a pass-first point guard, Patterson believes he can also find ways to score and get to the bucket for points.
"I'm just doing whatever my team needs," he said. "Making plays for people around me and being a leader on the floor."
Tulane, UGA, Georgia Tech, Georgia State, Auburn, George Mason, and Houston have also pulled the trigger on offers along with the Billikens.
He would like to take some visits after July but has not chosen locations or dates for them.
Scout.com National Analyst Brian Snow saw Patterson a year ago, as did I at the Adidas Invitational in Indianapolis. Here were his thoughts:
Patterson is a scoring point guard who has had a great event overall, and simply never let down. He can really make shots, but he might be at his best driving and getting to the rim. Also Patterson is a solid distributor and someone who knows how to run a team.
