Martin Pops For Butler

2014 Kelan Martin committed to Butler on Monday afternoon. His father Ken broke down the decision with Scout.com's Ben Weixlmann.

After going back and forth between Saint Louis and Butler, 2014 three-star forward Kelan Martin popped for the Bulldogs on Monday afternoon.

"He just thought that Butler provided him a more suitable fit," Martin's father Ken told Scout.com. "It was really close. You could say it was Butler 1 and Saint Louis 1A."

When it came down to it, the style of play and basketball brand were a big factor.

"He really liked that they were in the Big East," Martin said. "He also just thought that Butler was going to be better from a basketball perspective."

SLU made a strong run at Martin and stayed in it all the way through.

"I especially want to thank Coach [Tanner] Bronson," he said. "He was incredible and all the coaches at SLU made them a strong choice. Kelan just felt that Butler was the better choice."

Martin joins center Tyler Wideman as members of the 2014 recruiting class for the Bulldogs.
