Yarbrough Pops For SLU

Saint Louis grabbed its sixth commitment for the Class of 2014, as wing Milik Yarbrough made the call.

Looking to fill the void of five senior starters graduating the team, Saint Louis picked up its sixth commitment for the Class of 2014 on Wednesday afternoon as Milik Yarbrough made his pledge to the Billikens.

The 6-foot-5 possesses guard skills, but often will face forwards on the defensive end.

After being tracked for quite some time by a number of high major and mid major schools, he settled down and made a timeline of April for his decision.

He visited SLU last weekend and fell in love.

"It was amazing," he told BillikenReport.com. "I committed there because of the coaching staff and the group coming in showing me so much love."

There was a time when schools recruiting him were unsure if he had qualified, but Yarbrough says that is now taken care of.

So what are the Billikens getting?

"Milik is someone who can really score the ball," Scout.com National Basketball Analyst Brian Snow said. "He isn't a great athlete, but he can handle the ball fairly well and has an absolute scorer's mentality. Milik definitely makes shots and also can score going to the rim. Defensively he struggles, but this is a kid who is wired to score, and one of the better wings out there."

On top of that, Calbert Cheaney played a big role in his commitment.

"They have the Big Ten scoring champion on the staff," he said. "That's what I do is score, so that really gave it a plus. . .I knew it was the right spot when I can come in and make an impact on the game right away."

Yarbrough said he has been playing basketball with SLU signee Miles Reynolds since they were in sixth grade, so that also assisted in his commitment.

"Overall, I'm just trying to show the whole nation that they really missed out on my ability to do it all," he said.

Yarbrough joins Reynolds, Marcus Bartley, Davell Roby, Austin Gillmann, and Brett Jolly in the Class of 2014.
