SLU is No. 1 for Mitchell

Kwamain Mitchell had a long day Thursday, getting up early to drive from Wisconsin to St. Louis and then driving back home that night because his Wisconsin Playground Warriors AAU team was leaving for a tournament in North Carolina at 6 a.m. on Friday morning.

But Mitchell's trip to St. Louis and his unofficial visit to Saint Louis University was a productive one.

The 6-foot-1 junior point guard toured the campus, saw the construction work on the new Chaifetz Arena and talked with coach Rick Majerus for about an hour.

"It was just awesome," Mitchell said of his visit. "It was wonderful. Just awesome. Great."

The Whitefish Bay Dominican High point guard has scholarship offers from Saint Louis University, University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, Loyola University Chicago and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, but he has a clear favorite school at this point.

"Saint Louis is No. 1 on my list," Mitchell said.

Mitchell said in the next few days he will sit down with his family and his coaches and tell them about his trip and how much he likes the Billikens.

He plans to return for another visit with his family.

The Dominican High guard said he's not ready to make a college decision yet and is still looking at his other options. A day earlier, Mitchell said he would likely wait until near the end of the summer or before his high school season started to make a decision.

Mitchell averaged 19.3 points per game as a sophomore and 16.4 points per game as a junior. He led the Green Knights to a 21-4 record and a Midwest Classic Conference championship.
