Relphorde Makes Decision

After deciding to transfer from Saint Louis University, Marcus Relphorde faced a difficult decision of whether to go to another Division I school and sit out a season or head to a junior college and play right away.

"It was really tough," Relphorde said. "I went to a lot of junior colleges. At first I wasn't sure if I wanted to go to a JUCO or go to another D-1 right away. This past year I didn't play too much, so I didn't want to sit out another year."

After narrowing down his list of schools to Indian Hills Junior College, Vincennes Junior College or Wisconsin-Green Bay, the 6-foot-7 swingman signed with Indian Hills.

"Preseason, they might be No. 1," Relphorde said. "There's a chance for me to come in and get minutes right away at the wing, which is my natural position. They have a good record of sending kids on to major programs."

Seeing time mostly as a small forward or power forward, Relphorde played in 21 games for Saint Louis as a freshman but only averaged 4.3 minutes per game. He scored 22 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.

In the Billikens second game of the year, against Houston Baptist, Relphorde had 14 points and seven rebounds in 18 minutes.

Relphorde attended Homewood-Flossmoor High School in Chicago before finishing up at American Christian School in Pennsylvania.

He averaged 13 points, 6 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game as a senior at American Christian School before signing with Saint Louis University and then coach Brad Soderberg.
