Remekun Makes Decision

After taking his fifth official visit over the weekend, Mesquite (Texas) High School power forward Cory Remekun weighed his options with his family and made a verbal commitment on Tuesday.

The 6-foot-8, 195-pounder was considering scholarship offers from schools across the country and several different conferences: the Big Ten, Conference USA, Atlantic 10, Missouri Valley, WAC and Sun Belt.

In the end, he picked coach Rick Majerus and the Saint Louis U. Billikens.

"Me and my family just sat down," Remekun said. "We decided it was the best situation for me. The coaching staff was real good and everything. The team was good. It seems like the program is headed in the right direction."

The Texas native had taken official visits to Utah State, Missouri State, Western Kentucky, Saint Louis University and Tulane before making his choice. He decided on visiting Tulane, rather than Penn State, for his final official visit this past weekend.

Before making the trip to Tulane, Remekun said all the schools he was considering were "pretty even at this point."

Remekun enjoyed his trip to SLU.

"I liked the practices," Remekun said after that trip. "They worked real hard. They should be good. I liked the coaching staff a lot. Coach Majerus is a real good coach. I like the city. It's a basketball school, too."

Remekun becomes the second commitment for Majerus in this recruiting class, joining Ohio forward Jonathan Smith.
