Saint Louis Loses On Road

St. Bonaventure, N.Y. — Johnathan Hall scored a career-high 31 points to lead St. Bonaventure to a 72-55 win over the Saint Louis Billikens Wednesday evening at the Reilly Center. The loss snapped SLU's two-game winning streak.

The Bonnies went up 4-1 to open the game, but Barry Eberhardt powered up for a layup and Willie Reed threw down a dunk on an inbounds play to give the Billikens their first lead 5-4 four minutes into the game.

Johnathan Hall scored 10 straight points for SBU and helped push the Bonnies to a 12-7 lead. Kevin Lisch hit two free throws and a long 3-pointer to keep the Billikens close.

An Eberhardt bucket cut the Bonnies' lead to 21-18 with 7:10 left in the first half. Hall continued his blazing start and tallied eight of St. Bonaventure's next 12 points as the Bonnies stretched their advantage to 27-18.

The Billikens did not score a field goal the rest of the half as SBU took a lead into intermission. Hall, who averages 12 points per game, tallied 18 in the first half for SBU on 8-of-11 shooting.

Kwamain Mitchell began the second half for SLU with a trey, but the Bonnies had three three-point play sequences and pushed out to a 42-28 lead four minutes into the half.

Mitchell added two free throws, but St. Bonaventure scored nine straight for a 51-30 lead. Reed scored on a spin move inside to break the SLU drought.

The Billikens chipped into the lead with a 5-0 burst, but SLU was unable to trim the lead to under 15 as a two-game winning streak ended. Mitchell led the Billikens with 15 points, while Lisch added 13

The Billikens drop to 17-11, 8-6 in the A-10, while the Bonnies up their mark to 14-13 overall, 5-9 in the A-10. The Billikens are next in action Wednesday, March 4, when they travel to Duquesne.
