As soon as Dwayne Evans decided to commit to play his college basketball at Saint Louis University, the Illinois Warriors forward started trying to convince one of his friends to join him. On Saturday, Mike McCall pledged to join his friend Evans as a member of the Billikens.
McCall, a 6-1 combo guard at Chicago Foreman High School, joins Evans as the second verbal commitment to coach Rick Majerus and SLU for the 2010-11 season.
The pair from upstate Illinois both took official visits to the St. Louis campus this weekend. With Evans already having decided on his college destination, it became a chance to convince his friend to join him at the Atlantic 10 Conference school.
According to the Chicago Sun-Times web site, McCall chose the Billikens over Northern Illinois, Southern Illinois, Texas A&M, Washington State and Wichita State.
Like Evans before his pledge to SLU, McCall was ranked by various recruiting sites as one of top remaining uncommitted prospects in Illinois.
