Saint Louis U: Signing Day 2009

Saint Louis University women's basketball coach Shimmy Gray-Miller started off her Wednesday by posting the following message on her Twitter account: "It's a great day to be a Billiken! Current & Future :-)"

Today figures to be a big day for Gray-Miller, who is in her fifth year at SLU.

The Billikens coach is expected to sign five players on signing day, including Lorreal Jones, Abby Willis, Desirae Ball and Jenna Mueller.

Lorreal Jones is a 6-foot-1 power forward from Detroit Renaissance High School.

Willis is a 5-9 guard from St. Thomas Aquinas outside of Kansas City whose sister, Lauren, is a junior guard at Oklahoma. Her father, Steve, was a kicker at Kansas State. Her mother, Lois, was an NCAA track and field All-American in the 4x400-meter relay and the 1984 Big Eight Conference champion in the outdoor triple jump.

Ball, a 5-9 guard from Ursuline Academy in Cincinnati, is the daughter of former Cincinnati Bengals running back Eric Ball. She averaged 13.5 points per game as a junior.

Mueller, a 6-1 center from South Shelby High School in Missouri, averaged 14.7 points, 10.3 rebounds, 2.4 steals, 2.6 assists and 1.4 blocks per game as a junior.

After two large recruiting classes, Saint Louis coach Rick Majerus is expected to sign two high schoolers from upstate Illinois today: 6-6 Neuqua Valley High small forward Dwayne Evans and 6-foot Chicago Foreman High School guard Mike McCall.

The addition of Evans and McCall would give the Billikens 14 scholarship players for next season, including guard Paul Eckerle and forward Cody Ellis.

But Ellis has yet to be cleared by the NCAA and arrive on campus and Eckerle could be taken off scholarship, which would put SLU at the limit of 13.
