ST. LOUIS - Saint Louis sophomore guard Kwamain Mitchell (Milwaukee, Wis. / Dominican) was selected Atlantic 10 Conference men's basketball Player of the Week for the period ending Dec. 26, the league office announced.
After missing the Missouri State game due to an eye injury, Mitchell returned to the Billiken lineup and poured in 33 points in a 61-54 victory over UMKC. Mitchell's scoring output is the most by a Billiken since Larry Hughes
tallied 37 points on March 5, 1998.
Against UMKC, Mitchell hit 11-of-18 shots from the field, both 3-point attempts and nine free throws, while adding three rebounds and two steals. He leads the team in scoring (16.0), assists (29) and steals (21).
The Billikens (8-4) host Eastern Illinois Tuesday, Dec. 29, at 8 p.m. The game is part of a doubleheader at Chaifetz Arena as the women's team takes on Bradley at 5:30 p.m.
