Saint Louis sophomore guard Kwamain Mitchell (Milwaukee, Wis. / Dominican) was selected Atlantic 10 Conference men's basketball co-Player of the Week for the period ending Feb. 7, the league office announced. He shared the honor with Charlotte's Shamari Spears.
Mitchell averaged 21.0 points and 3.5 assists and scored the game-winning points in both Billiken victories last week. He tallied 17 points, including the game-winning basket with 1.4 seconds left, as the Billikens beat St. Bonaventure
Feb. 3. He added three rebounds, three assists and three steals against the Bonnies.
Mitchell registered a game-high 25 points and the game-winning free throws with less than a minute remaining, as the Billikens rallied to down La Salle 68-65 on Feb. 6. He had four assists, no turnovers, and chipped in two rebounds and two steals against the Explorers.
The Billikens (14-8, 5-3 A-10) return to action on Tuesday, Feb. 9, when they face Saint Joseph's at 6 p.m. (CT). The game will be televised by CBS College Sports Regional and airs on Charter Communication's CCIN Channel 3 in St. Louis.
