Lafayette High School OT Gabe Kuhn took an unofficial visit to San Diego State last week.
"It went pretty good. I really liked the campus," Kuhn said. "I really liked how the football program was ran, just everything about the program and how the coaches were."
The Kuhn family traveled over 1,500 miles from Wildwood, MO during Gabe's spring break to check out the campus and have a little fun in the sun.
"It's a beautiful campus. Honestly the weather is much better than Missouri and everything is definitely a pleasant change," Kuhn said. "I can't name one thing I disliked about San Diego State."
The 6-foot-5 260-pound offensive tackle showed off his athleticism in a recent attempt of the 40-yard dash by running a 5.2 (seconds). Kuhn has also played high school baseball which has helped the powerful big man develop his nimble footwork.
Kuhn is confident that he's a Big East talent.
"I have quick feet, I give 100% on every down and feel like I have the strength to overpower some guys who are bigger than me," Kuhn said. "Definitely need to work on finishing my blocks more, I feel like I don't finish my blocks. Need to sure up some things with my technique, just regular stuff."
While there have been talks of the Aztecs experimenting more with the spread-option it doesn't seem to matter to him what system he plays in.
"Honestly any type of system fits me. I do like the spread offense, pro-style and anything similar to that," Kuhn said.
The agile lineman has also been hearing from Iowa, Ball State, Missouri, Illinois, Northwestern, Northern Illinois and Indiana. Kuhn thinks he has a great shot at an San Diego State offer if he comes out for their camp this summer.
"I'll be at camps all summer. I'm really trying to make it back out to San Diego State and also to Iowa, Northern Illinois and maybe a couple more."
Kuhn visited Ball State this past weekend.
