As a versatile prospect who plays both offensive tackle and defensive end for Fountain Valley (Calif.), J.D. Hinnant is no stranger to keeping busy. This will come in handy for the 6'5" 260 lb. recruit as he makes multiple visits to various schools over the next couple weeks.
Hinnant is scheduled to attend Oregon State's Junior Day on April 14th. Making the most of his trip up north, he will also visit Washington State on the 13th and Oregon on the 15th. If timing allows for it, he hopes to also attend Arizona State's spring game the following weekend, on April 21st.
While his upcoming plans are pretty Pac-12-heavy, Hinnant clarifies that it's not really an indicator of what is important to him in making this decision.
"Conference is not really a big deal to me," he says. "Location, education and the all-around experience I think I would have at the college, including the football team, are most important."
He plans on attending camp at San Diego State this summer, but for now has heard little more from them than a couple letters. He hopes that will change over time.
"It'd be very cool to talk with them," he says. "Basically everyone at my whole school loves San Diego State. It would be very cool to get an offer from them."
Hinnant says he loves that San Diego State is local, but adds that he's always been intrigued by the idea of going to college and playing football outside of southern California. "I'm keeping my options open for sure," he says.
It seems as if he may have quite a few options to choose from, by the end of this busy road. Boston College, Duke, Nebraska, Utah and Stanford have all shown interest, in addition to the Pac-12 schools he's visiting and has gotten offers from.
Update: Hinnant was offered by San Diego State on Thursday, April 5th.
