4-star Josh Hart of Sidwell Friends School (DC), who received a San Diego State offer months ago, has been tearing up the AAU scene this spring.
Hart leads his AAU squad "Team Takeover" in scoring (10.1 PPG) so far at EYBL and has grabbed down 6 boards a game.
The 6-foot-5 and 180 pound wing knows exactly what he brings to the basketball court.
"I'm more of a slasher," said Hart. "I'm able to shoot the three but my strength is more being able to cut to the basket and getting to the foul line, that's my biggest strength right now."
Hart sees himself at the next level as a shooting guard so he's continuing to work on his ball handling and midrange shot this spring and summer to help develop his perimeter game.
As the 63rd ranked prospect in the nation, Hart feels North Carolina State, Penn State, Georgetown, San Diego State, Marquette and Villanova are recruiting him the hardest.
Hart has taken visits to Georgetown, Penn State and twice to North Carolina State. He is planning on visiting George Washington sometime this month and is hoping to visit Villanova in late May.
There are some programs that stand out more than the others for the rising senior.
"N.C. State, San Diego State and Georgetown because of the coaching staffs they have, really showing strong interest and keeping everything up front," Hart said. "So those are the reasons why those schools are sticking out more than the others."
The highly touted prospect has no set timetable but did say, "Sometime after the fall then I'll really going to cut down the schools."
As far as San Diego State goes, the Aztecs began to recruit Hart due to the relationship assistant coach Tony Bland has with one of the high school coaches at Sidwell Friends.
"Tony [Bland] talked to me about my game," Hart said. "They kind of see me as the same type of player as Winston Shepard; get out, defend, get to the basket."
Hart fits well into the up-and-down style at SDSU as he prefers that type of system and also wants to go to a team that is able to execute in the half court.
Hart does feel San Diego State has a lot to offer him.
"I really like the coaching staff and their style of play mostly," Hart explained. "I haven't really been able to get out for a visit so I haven't been able to see the campus, the community and all that type of stuff. It's mainly basketball right now."
With mostly east coast programs recruiting Hart, will proximity to home be a factor?
"I don't really have a preference as it's more if the school fits me, if its on the west coast then that's where I'm going to go," Hart said.
