San Diego State 79 Arkansas-Pine Bluff 43

Xavier Thames – 22 mins, 6 pts, 2 rebs, 4 ast, 0 blks, 0 stls, 2 TO

The lead guard struggled from the field once again, 2-of-8 overall and 1-of-5 from beyond the arc. Thames only played 22 minutes and will need to get his shot going when SDSU travels to LA. (C)

Chase Tapley – 25 mins, 15 pts, 4 rebs, 0 ast, 1 blk, 1 stl, 0 TO

Tapley bounced back from struggling versus Missouri State with a 15-point outing. The senior turned the 3-point power outage around by connecting on 5-of-8 from downtown. Most importantly he didn't turn the ball over. (A)

Jamaal Franklin – 29 mins, 15 pts, 12 rebs, 4 ast, 0 blk, 2 stl, 3 TO

All around game for Franklin. There were no sideshows it was just a dominant double-double performance, 15 points and 12 rebounds. Franklin also threw his body on the deck numerous times. (A-)

J.J. O'Brien – 25 mins, 2 pts, 2 rebs, 3 ast, 1 blk, 1 stl, 0 TO

This was toughest game for O'Brien this season. He just couldn't get into the flow of the game and wasn't winning the 50/50 balls that he's accustomed to. That being said he made multiple plays in the open floor that forwards shouldn't be able to make. (C-)

Deshawn Stephens – 27 mins, 11 pts, 10 rebs, 0 ast, 1 blk, 0 stl, 2 TO

First career double-double for Stephens. The game started with a post touch that turned into an easy deuce off the right block but didn't really receive another one after. Most exciting moment of the game was when Stephens picked Viejas Arena off their feet after blocking a shot on one end then running the floor as Jamaal Franklin found the big man for an alley-oop slam. (A-)

James Rahon – 21 mins, 4 pts, 2 rebs, 3 ast, 0 blk, 1 stl, 0 TO

The struggles resurfaced after a solid shooting performance against Missouri State. Rahon only made 2 of his 13 field goal attempts and also missed all six three-pointers. Most of the jumpers were open looks but sometimes he forced the subject instead of making that extra pass. (D-)

Dwayne Polee – 19 mins, 6 pts, 2 rebs, 0 ast, 0 blk, 0 stl, 0 TO

Polee joined the three-point parade but didn't do too much else offensively. Seems to struggle when he tries to create for himself. (C+)

Skylar Spencer – 16 mins, 12 pts, 5 rebs, 0 ast, 2 blk, 1 stl, 0 TO

The lone freshman played fantastic in his 16 minutes of play. Spencer made 4-of-5 shots with multiple buckets coming from legitimate post moves against the smaller sized Golden Lions. The big man continues to rebound the ball at a high rate. (A)

LaBradford Franklin – 9 mins, 5 pts, 2 rebs, 1 ast, 0 blk, 0 stl, 0 TO

The thought to be backup point guard earned first half minutes for the first time this season. Franklin looked confident and out to prove himself. He hit an open corner three during the large first half run. Could be in line for more minutes down the road. (B)
