Fresno (Calif.) Clovis North tight end David Wells is looking forward to signing day as he'll be signing at 7:00 a.m. PST at his house then will have a ceremony at school at 12:15 p.m.

He plans to wear a San Diego State hat along with a "nice" red and black tie.

"I'm really excited to sign," Wells said. "I just think it's going to be one of the best days in my life. I'm extremely excited about it."

The future Aztec acknowledged that his parents drew him to SDSU and it took a trip to Montezuma Mesa for him to be convinced.

"They are so excited," Wells said. "You have no idea. They are the first ones to tell me that they thought San Diego State would be a great fit. Once I checked it out myself because before I even committed back in June I felt like I didn't know anything about it, well enough to make a decision.

"Once I made my unofficial visit I was like holy cow this is where I want to be for college. That's when I really made my decision. They were extremely happy for me and couldn't be more proud. It's great."

California, Utah and Colorado all tried to steal Wells from Rocky Long but "I told them firmly no that it's not going to happen I'm going to San Diego State no matter what."

The 6-foot-6, 230-pound tight end has been lifting every morning with his high school football coach and is currently in the middle of his basketball season so "it's hard to gain weight."

"Once season is over is when I'm going to hit it extremely hard by gaining weight and getting physically as strong as possible before I leave for San Diego," Wells said.

The two-star prospect expects to get a workout plan in the next few days from SDSU strength and conditioning coach Adam Hall.
