JuCo Receiver has 3 offers

JuCo wide receiver Tyrin Stone-Davis talks about offers from Illinois, Texas Tech and San Diego State.

Tyrin Stone-Davis was a high school standout in Philadelphia, but after he failed to qualify for the scholarships that he had been offered he headed west to Pierce Community College in Los Angeles.

He's received offers from Illinois, San Diego State and Texas Tech, along with interest from West Virginia, BYU, Indiana and Oregon. He has a girlfriend in Los Angeles, but that doesn't mean that he's set on staying on the west coast once to transfers to the D-1 level.

At 6'3" 195 pounds, Stone-Davis has a great frame for a D-1 receiver. " My speed and route running ability, I can just run right past people," Stone-Davis told me are a few things among his top attributes. No player is ever done getting better though, "I need to work on a little bit of everything, nothing's perfect around here. Catching the football and being physical at the line of scrimmage," Stone-Davis said.

When he's talked to San Diego State they've told him about their recent success with receivers heading to the NFL. "They talk about the system, and how Vincent Brown was drafted by the Chargers and Brice Butler was drafted by the Raiders," Stone-Davis said.

Only one visit is planned of now, "I'm going to Illinois on September 7th for the Cincinnati game, I have a friend on Cincinnati," Stone-Davis told me.

He's not very close to choosing a school, but doesn't have that long to contemplate a decision. "I'm on track to graduate here in December, so I need to get my visits done by then and report for spring ball," Stone- Davis said.

When he does decide on a school, Tyrin knows exactly what he's looking for, "Academics are always important, but I want to be one and done and head to the NFL."
