Aztecs working hard on Griffin

2014 LB Cameron Griffin is liking what he's been hearing from San Diego State.

Cameron Griffin plays in a small school league at View Park Prep, but he brings a big game to the football field. Griffin just finished his junior season in which he had 121 tackles, 3 sacks, 1 interception and 4 blocked punts.

In the offseason Griffin hones his skills playing another sport, but unlike most that sport isn't basketball or baseball, it's Rugby. "It taught me to play more aggressive, play more in the trenches and to not be afraid of contact," Griffin said.

Griffin picked up his first two offers from San Diego State and Fresno State, along with interest from Boise State and Washington.

The San Diego State coaches have made a big impression on Griffin during his recruitment, "I really like how open they are. I would have more opportunity there than anywhere else."

"San Diego State is recruiting me hardest of anyone."

Griffin hasn't had a chance to make it to San Diego State yet, but he plans to make a visit to the Mesa very soon.

"Probably my speed," Griffin said about his strongest attribute on the field. "I need to get better at getting off blocks."

Griffin isn't planning on making his decision very soon, but he knows when he wants to. "I'm gonna take some visits to every school that offers and then make my decision during senior year."

"Academics and coaches," are what's important to Griffin when he decides on a college.
