SAN DIEGO – San Diego State men's basketball added another high-quality opponent to its 2013-14 non-conference schedule with the addition of Washington. The Huskies and Aztecs will hit the Viejas Arena hardwood on Sunday, Dec. 8, 2013, and SDSU will return the game by playing in Seattle in 2014-15.
SDSU will now play host to a pair of Pac-12 Conference schools as Arizona is already set to visit Montezuma Mesa on a date that has yet to be determined. The Aztecs will head into the upcoming campaign having won 11 of their last 12 against current members of the Pac-12.
Also on the pre-league slate is an appearance at the DIRECTV Classic (Nov. 28-29, Dec. 1) in nearby Anaheim, Calif. Joining SDSU at the Anaheim Convention Center will be another Pac-12 school in Arizona State, College of Charleston, Creighton, George Washington, Marquette and Miami (Fla.). The Aztecs will also head to Lawrence, Kan., to face Kansas on Jan. 5.
Washington is a program that has advanced to the postseason nine of the last 10 years, including the last six. During that time, the Huskies have been in the NCAA tournament six times, advancing to the Sweet 16 on three different occasions.
San Diego State is coming off a school-record fourth straight appearance in the NCAA tournament where it advanced past the second round for the second time in three seasons. Last year, the Aztecs finished with a 23-11 record, which represented their eighth-consecutive campaign of 20 or more wins, and their postseason berth was their eighth in a row as well.
Fans interested in purchasing tickets for the 2013-14 season may contact the SDSU ticket office at (619) 283-7378.
