Aztecs are the perfect fit for McKnight

Maurice McKnight decided San Diego State was the right school for his future after visiting campus for "Warrior day".

Arroyo Valley cornerback Maurice McKnight made the trip south on Saturday to check out the San Diego State campus during their "Warrior Day". By the time he was getting ready to leave he decided he had seen enough and chose to accept the Aztec's scholarship offer that was offered a couple weeks prior.

"They have a really friendly environment. The football team was really friendly and everybody at the school was just really happy to be there," McKnight said.

"We went over film with the position coaches, and it's just the perfect fit for me."

"I was really impressed with the education program," McKnight said. ""They have a great library with tons of room to study and one of the best education programs."

Before making the commitment to San Diego State, McKnight had been hearing from UTEP, Fresno State and Portland State.

"I can play safety or receiver, but I'm best at just running with the receivers."

The goals for McKnight before he steps foot on campus are like most players, "Do some lifting, get bigger, and add some pounds."

"I'm working on getting my head around on passes. I need to work on how I turn on passing plays."

"Coach Long made it clear to me that he wants defensive backs that can compete and take coaching," McKnight said. "I'm a proud Aztec!"

McKnight becomes the Aztec's 3rd commit of the 2014 class, joining William Walker and Jay Henderson.
