Anaheim (Calif.) Magnolia HS safety Jamal Scott has collected seven offers during the recruiting process, but isn't looking to make a decision very soon. "I think I'll probably commit sometime during my senior year during the football season."
The Aztecs extended an offer to Scott and have cemented their place among his possible suitors. "They said I would be a big asset to the defense for the Aztec position. They've been pushing me for a visit in July. I've been really liking San Diego State and I want to go check it out this summer."
A few weeks back, Scott had the Utes positioned at the front of his list, but things have since changed. "At first I thought Utah was at top, but it's a hard decision. It's all pretty even right now. All the schools are making a big effort."
"I've been talking with Coach McGarry, I like him because he's a real honest person. He tells me that they really want me, when they came to my practice I really liked him. I want to build a stronger relationship with him."
"We're on our 3 week dead period. I've been lifting with my teammates and doing 1 on 1's with teammates and working on routes," Scott said. "The strongest part of my game is the intensity I have on the field and my physicality. I can pick up how to play a position really quick. I like to hover around when I'm at safety and keep my eye on everything."
"I'd like to get a little bit faster, because that never hurts. My coverage skills while covering the slot position could be improved."
Scott isn't very close to making his college decision, but he knows just what he's looking for. "Academics are a big thing of course. The main thing is the family setting with team, I want a team that is together and can have a good time."
