DeShawn Stephens update

DeShawn Stephens has been working out daily in preparation to impress NBA and overseas teams.

This past season DeShawn Stephens was second on the Aztecs in rebounds per game with 4.9, but stats do not show how much of a presence Stephens really was. His high fly abilities not only awed the crowd with dunks and lobs, but also provided a solid rebounder and shot blocker to anchor the sometimes center-less Aztec line up.

Now Stephens is looking to take his game to the professional level, whether it be overseas or the NBA, "As of now I'm not sure where yet, waiting to see if I can line-up some NBA and overseas workouts. Darren Collison is my cousin, and has said a some NBA teams have been asking about me, so he's helping me out and we'll see how that goes." Since graduating Stephens has signed with Bill Duffy Sports Agency, the same agent that represents Darren Collison.

Currently Stephens is back in the gym working out daily, "I'm working out, getting into the best shape. Right now I'm working out in LA with some guys from BDA, and also with my old coaches from Santa Monica College. I'll also work out in Vegas for some private workouts"

Stephens will miss the college life, but most importantly he'll miss his basketball family. "I'm going to miss the entire school, the team, and the coaching staff. It's a family, and it feels like I'm moving out from home. I still talk to the guys everyday, like I actually was just texting Xavier (Thames) yesterday" said Stephens.

To all the fans and alumni that have shown support over his college career, Stephens said "I appreciate all the support, I want to go out there and encourage the people and let them know how much I appreciate their support." Certainly Stephens will be able to find a spot on a roster overseas, where he'll continue to impress the crowds with his highflying dunks and blocks.
