2014 Brewster Academy point guard Kevin Zabo is one of several players that the San Diego State coaching staff will have their eyes on come the start of the July Evaluation Period next week.

The rising senior lead guard has offers from George Washington, West Virginia, and Illinois along with strong interest from San Diego State, Oregon, and Minnesota. "Right now it's still pretty wide open. I'm gonna wait until after the July period to make a list," Zabo said.

Zabo will get his first chance to impress the coaches during July while playing for CIA Bounce at the EYBL Peach Jam Finals next week.

"I mean they've done a good job recruiting me really hard, I've talked with the head coach and they're looking forward to seeing me in July," Zabo said about the Aztecs. "They need a point guard and I like what they have going on right now, they've been making the tournament every year."

Zabo hasn't made any visits yet, but he's got a plan setup for the rest of his recruitment.

"After the July period I'm gonna cut my list down to 5 and take some visits."

What is Zabo looking for in a school?

"I would probably say early playing time, anywhere I can fit in the system right away and play with a good coach," Zabo told me. "Hopefully I can make my decision before senior year."

"I've been working out with my trainer in Canada, either lifting or running in the morning, then skills stuff in the afternoon and scrimmages at night. I'm just getting ready for the AAU period," Zabo said. "I want to show coaches that I can run a team. I have good leadership, and a good attitude on and off the court."
