San Diego State extended their second scholarship to a point guard from the class of 2014 on Sunday when Flintridge Prep lead guard Robert Cartwright talked with Steve Fisher, who an offered him a scholarship.

"No leader, there are schools I like but no one is the favorite."

Cartwright had a big showing this past weekend at the Pangos Sweet 16 in front of several coaches, including San Diego State's Steve Fisher and Justin Hutson.

"They came into my recruitment a little later, Coach Velasquez started calling me during the spring period. They wanted me to come on a visit in June, but I didn't have much time," Cartwright said. "I had a nice long conversation with Coach Fisher on Sunday night. They're looking for a point guard and they think I can be that guy."

"The amount of support from the fans at SDSU seems to be unmatched by any other school in California, it would be a cool environment to play in."

Cartwright's offer from Stanford became official after the school was able to approve his grades and test scores.

"(Stanford) is a fantastic academic school. Coach Dawkins seems like a leader of men and a great coach, it seems like a great place to attend school," Cartwright told me. "They're telling me that I'm their guy and it's definitely a school I'm highly considering."

Cartwright has amassed offers from over 20 schools during the recruiting process.

"My plan is right after July I'm gonna get serious. I don't wanna waste schools time. I don't know how many I'm gonna cut it to, but I'm gonna get right down to it. I'll decide soon after that."

Cartwright doesn't have an exact date, but he knows the time period for when he'll make his decision. "I'm not gonna wait until November. I'll probably get it done within a couple months after the open period, it could be in August."

"I'm looking for the best fit, I'd like to play for a coach that cares about me and wants me there. I want to go to a school where I can thrive and be a good student athlete. Playing time is important as well," Cartwright said. "There's no one factor. A good academic school is important, and location is not a factor."
